Life at The Grey
What your hounds CAN expect
Whether your hounds are with us for a night, a week or a month, we will always look after them as if they were our own. We try to keep things ‘the same but different’ - a relaxed, familiar routine but with new smells, sights and stimuli.
Ours is an adult-only household, with both of us home all the time. It’s quiet, relaxed, calm and after two decades of constant grey care, we’re pretty well versed in everything long dog. We'd like to think that our home is both greyhound-proof and greyhound-proven. But we're careful and cautious types too, so never complacent where hounds are concerned!
We walk two or three times a day, most of it off-road - and always depending on guest preferences. We’re in rural Suffolk, surrounded by fields and footpaths, woods and streams - you could be here for weeks and never do the same walk twice.
We have outside secure space at home for mini zoomies and calls of nature, plus daily access to a freedom field if your hound would like a good run.
The rest of the time? Well, let’s face it, how demanding is the 45mph couch potato? Nowhere is off limits, there’s a plentiful choice of beds and sofas - though if you’d prefer they didn’t learn about super comfy furniture or climbing the stairs, just let us know!
We know that the thought of leaving your dogs can be a stressful one, so we're always happy to chat on the phone about any aspect of our home boarding services if you'd like some early reassurance.
Meet, greet, eat and snooze tasters
By the time hounds check-in, they won't be strangers. We always arrange a familiarisation session overnight for our first-time visitors, well in advance of the booked holiday dates.
This lets everyone get introduced and comfortable over tea, biccies and gravy bones. We also take the opportunity to complete our VIG (Very Important Greyhound) guest forms so that we can provide the best possible holiday care.
